Archie Coffman Tribute and Big Daddy Classic for Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series at Ponderosa Speedway September 30, October 1

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (September 25, 2022) – The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern/Southern Series and the Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series visit Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY for back-to-back nights of competition on Friday September 30 and Saturday October 1 as part of the track’s annual Fall Classic weekend of racing.

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern/Southern Series will race for $5,000 to win on Friday September 30 in the Archie Coffman Tribute, while racing for $10,088 to win on Saturday October 1 in the Big Daddy Classic. The Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series will race for $1,500 to win each evening. The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series will crown its 2022 series champion at the conclusion of the Big Daddy Classic main event on Saturday October 1.

The Fall Classic weekend begin on Friday September 30 with the Archie Coffman Tribute and will see the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern/Southern Series in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, Impact Race Gear B-Mains, and the 40 lap, $5,000 to win/$450 to start Archie Coffman Tribute main event. The Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series will also be in action in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Last Chance Heats, and a 20 lap, $1,500 to win/$150 to start feature event. Other divisions in action at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday September 30 will be the track’s Crate Late Models ($1,200 to win), Super Stocks ($1,000 to win), Hobby Stocks ($500 to win), and FWD/RWD Four Cylinders ($500 to win). Activities for the Archie Coffman Tribute at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday September 30 will see the pit area and general admission area open at 3:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps and time trials getting underway at 7:15 p.m. Ticket prices at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday September 30 in the general admission area will be $25 for adults (children ages 10 and under are free), while a pit pass for adults will be $40.

The Fall Classic weekend concludes on Saturday October 1 with the Big Daddy Classic and will see the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern/Southern Series in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, Impact Race Gear B-Mains, and the 50 lap, $10,000 to win/$500 to start Big Daddy Classic main event. The Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series will also be in action in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Last Chance Heats, and a 20 lap, $1,500 to win/$150 to start feature event. Other divisions in action at Ponderosa Speedway on Saturday October 1 will be the track’s Crate Late Models ($1,500 to win), Super Stocks ($1,000 to win), Hobby Stocks ($750 to win), and FWD/RWD Four Cylinders ($750 to win). Activities for the Big Daddy Classic at Ponderosa Speedway on Saturday October 1 will see the pit area and general admission area open at 3:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:45 p.m., with practice laps and time trials getting underway at 7:00 p.m. Ticket prices at Ponderosa Speedway on Saturday October 1 in the general admission area will be $30 for adults (children ages 10 and under are free), while a pit pass for adults will be $45.

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern and Southern Series will sanction the Super Late Model portion of the weekend events and the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1350, 1600, LM40 (Crate 21 and 55 also are fine) or American Racer 48 and 56 (there is no limit on the number of tires used; NO 29.0 size tires on the left rear; the droop rule will be in effect, along with the new standardized 2022 body rules). The entry fee will be $100 per event and transponders for timing/scoring will be available for rent at the track. Any driver not making the 22-car starting field on Friday September 30 will receive $50 tow money, while any driver not making the 22-car starting field on Saturday October 1 will receive $75 tow money.

The Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series will sanction the Open Wheel Modified portion of the program for each night and the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier M30s, M60, Medium, Hard; American Racer Hard and Extra Hard (only Hoosier M60, Hard, and American Racer Extra Hard are allowed as right-rear tire options; grooving and siping of tires are allowed per UMP rulebook; UMP 2022 body rules apply; no limit of tires used per night). The entry fee will be $40 and transponders for timing/scoring will be available for rent at the track. Any driver not making the 22-car starting field will receive $30 tow money.
