Brandon Kinzer Grabs Iron-Man Racing Series 33rd Annual Gobbler Triumphs at Boyd’s Speedway

RINGGOLD, GEORGIA (November 20, 2021)– The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series and the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series would visit Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA on Saturday for the 33rd Annual Gobbler event. Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN would inherit the lead on lap eleven and drive to his fourth-career Gobbler event victory in the $5,000 to win Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series main event. Brandon Kinzer of Lexington, KY would lead all twenty laps and the $1,200 victory in the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series main event. The 33rd edition of The Gobbler would be a record-breaking event with a total of 266 race cars on the grounds.

Kinzer’s victory would be the second career Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series victory for the 43-year-old driver aboard a MB Customs Race Car with a Randy Clary Race Engine sponsored by Kinzer Drilling Company, Quality Natural Gas, Custom Suspensions, Will Kinzer Foundation for Autism Research, CASVA Angus Farm, Dirt Wrap, Sweet Victory Apparel, Shear Worx, and Weststar Lubricants.

Brandon Kinzer would take the lead to start the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series feature event, followed by Michael Asberry, Jacob Hall, Wayne James, and Amos Bunch. The action would be slowed on lap three when Tyler Strickland’s machine put fluid down on the racing surface. The restart would also not see a lap completed as Seth Johnston would loop his machine in turn four. The restart would see the top four remain the same, while Tommy Bailey would work past Amos Bunch for fifth. Bailey would continue to charge as he would claim fourth from Wayne James on lap five. Kinzer would maintain the lead, with Asberry giving chase, while Bunch and James would battle for fifth, with Bunch taking the spot on lap nine. Hall would pressure Asberry for second, but would suffer a flat left-rear tire entering turn three on lap twelve and would spin, with the car eventually turning all the way around and flipping over, causing a red flag to be displayed, with Hall not being injured in the mishap. The restart would see Kinzer and Asberry scoot away from the pack, while Bailey would be pressured by Bunch for third, with Bunch grabbing third from Bailey on lap seventeen. The final caution appeared with eighteen laps completed when Wayne James would stop in turn one with rear suspension damage after contact with the retaining wall. The final two laps would see Kinzer maintain the lead and drive to the victory, with Asberry finishing second, while Bunch, Bailey, and Skyler Douglas completing the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be David Clark, Tyler James, Justin Parker, Tim Patrick, and Seth Johnston.
