Iron-Man Modified Series
Charlie Mefford Motors to Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series Victory at Mountain View Raceway
SPRING CITY, TENNESSEE (July 31, 2021)– The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series would make its first-ever visit to Mountain View Raceway in Spring City, TN and Charlie Mefford of Belton, KY would take his first-ever series victory in his first-ever visit to the track and claim a $1,200 victory.
The win by the 14-year old Mefford makes him the youngest winner in tour history and would come aboard an Elite Chassis powered by an Oakley Motorsports Race Engine. Mefford’s entry carries sponsorship from Oakley Motorsports, Mefford Construction, B&G Construction, Benton Barber Shop, K1 Race Gear, Eagle Truss, Lanham Off-Road, Team RFC, and Egeler Promotions.
Amos Bunch would lead the field into turn one at the start of the race, but would push up the track in turn two and open the door for Charlie Mefford to grab the race lead, followed by Wayne James, Bunch, Brandon Kinzer, and Ricky Tinch. The first caution would wave on lap two when Reece Ogle and Larry James would tangle in turn one. Mefford would lead the field back to the green flag on the restart, only to slide up the track in turn two, allowing Wayne James to grab the race lead. James would begin to stretch his lead out over Mefford and would begin to work slower traffic on lap seven. Meanwhile, Tinch had been challenging Kinzer for the fourth position and would take the position on lap nine. James continued to hold the top spot and was working lapped traffic to perfection when mechanical issues would strike James on lap seventeen when he would limp his mount to the infield with a broken J-Bar. The caution would wave one circuit later when Tinch would spin his machine in turn one to set up a short sprint to the finish. Mefford would inherit the lead on the restart and would lead the remainder of the way to score his first career win with the tour. Bunch would hold off the challenges of Kinzer to finish second, with Kinzer settling for third. Tinch would recover to finish fourth, while ninth-place starting Kirk Turner would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Adam Ogle, Justin Parker, David Pollen, James, and Kyle Shadden.
The next event for the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series will be at Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, TN on Saturday August 21, paying $1,200 to win and $125 to start.
