Iron-Man Modified Series
Blake Brown Claims 2020 Brucebilt Iron-Man Modified Series Championship
Blake Brown would capture the 2020 Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series championship after a season-long tight points battle with Brandon Kinzer that would see the 21 year-old, second-generation racer pick up three victories (June 20 at I-75 Raceway, August 22 at Wartburg Speedway, and November 14 at Volunteer Speedway) and score a total of nine top-ten finishes, with eight of those being top–five efforts. Brown would drive a Lightning Chassis powered by a Vic Hill Race Engine carrying sponsorship from Cross Bar E-Cigs, Interstate Race Supply, Edgewood Mobile Homes of Williamsburg, Cureton-Hill Insurance Agency, Lawyer Muscle Racing by Aaron Howard, Holston Gas, Tammy Brown Photography, Dirt Defender, GO Lithium, Wheelersburg Raceway, Z-Max Race Products, Swift Springs, WAR Shocks, American Racer Tires, and Wilwood. Besides Brown’s three series wins, his top-five finishes would include two second place and two third place finishes, and one fifth place finish.
Brandon Kinzer of Lexington, KY would finish in the second position in final tour points, scoring one tour victory (I-75 Raceway on September 26) and never finished outside of the top five in tour events, claiming three second place efforts, two third place finishes, two fourth place finishes, and one fifth place finish. Jeff Hamby of Lancing, TN would compete in all tour events and total seven top-ten finishes, with five of those top-five finishes (best finish was second at Wartburg Speedway on August 22). Jimmy Dalton of Powell, TN would nip Wayne James of Newport, TN by one point to claim the fourth position in points, competing in all events and scoring six top-ten finishes, with three of those being top-five finishes (best finish was fourth at I-75 Raceway on June 20). Wayne James would complete the top five in tour points, competing all series events and picking up six top-ten finishes, with three of those being top-five finishes (best finish was fourth at Volunteer Speedway on November 14). The remainder of the top ten in tour points would be defending series champion Clayton Miller of Elkton, KY (one win at Volunteer Speedway on August 1), Brandon James of Newport, TN, Terry James of Newport, TN, Amos Bunch of Wartburg, TN, and Billy Palmer of Knoxville, TN. In nine tour point events (the tour lost eight event due to COVID-19 cancellations and restrictions), a total of 92 different drivers raced with the tour and the average car count per event was 24.1, with a series record 44 entries at the tour finale at 411 Motor Speedway on November 28. In the nine tour events, five different drivers parked their machines in victory lane.
